Sunglasses for sailors!

Polarized wood sunglasses for sailors

Sunglasses for sailors ⛵️ Lani Shades polarized wood sunglasses are lightweight and strong, feature UV400 polarized Lani TAC scratch resistant lenses and since they're made of wood they naturally float!

Lani Shades was born out of the search for the perfect sunglasses to wear when you're sailing. Sailors are always looking up at the sails with the sun in their eyes so they need good sunglasses. Preferably they should be scratch resistant polarized lenses so you can see through the glare of the water and the salt spray doesn't ruin your lenses. They should also float so when you go swimming you don't lose them but if they do fall overboard and float away they shouldn't be plastic because plastic in the ocean is a real problem. There's lots of sunglasses on the market that are marketed to boaters and sailors. However we couldn't find any good sunglasses that we liked that met all these requirements so we started our own brand out of Sail Hawaii, our sailing school in Hawaii. Maybe it was all the classic wood on our sailboat s/v Gemini that gave us the idea. Why not wood sunglasses? Honestly, we didn't even invent wood sunglasses. We found some and thought, wood floats right? Actually not all wood sunglasses float we found out but the ones we chose do float. There's many different options for wood sunglasses so the ones we chose for Lani Shades and for our purpose of sunglasses for sailing in Hawaii met all our quality standards and passed our field and float test.

In this photo, Captain Greg the founder of Lani Shades is sailing with Sail Hawaii crew Michelle around the beautiful waters between Maui and Lanai aboard our classic cruising boat Gemini. If you're ever in Hawaii and want to go sailing, get in touch! See you out on the water!
